Marian Vajdos, age 88, passed away at her home on Friday, September 16, 2022, in Agua Dulce, Texas. She was born on February 11, 1934 in Moulton, Texas to Louis Zapletal and Bessie Novak Zaptletal.
Marian graduated from Karnes City High School in 1951 and married Fabian Vajdos on October 6, 1953. She was a homemaker for many years, raising their children and maintaining their home. As the children got older Marian began working in the cafeteria at Agua Dulce ISD, starting as a substitute server. At the time of her retirement, Marian had advanced to the position of Cafeteria Manager. Marian enjoyed interacting with her fellow cafeteria workers and with the students at the school as well as spending time with her family. She was a long-time member of St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church and a member of the Angels of the Altar.
Marian Vajdos was preceded in death by her husband, Fabian Vajdos; sons, Stephen and Paul; granddaughter, Sarah; daughter-in-law, Diane Vajdos; parents, Louis and Bessie Zapletal and brother, Edward Zapletal.
She is survived by her children; Debra Nichols and husband Bill of Agua Dulce, Carl Vajdos of Agua Dulce, Anna Grossman of Bedford, Ruth Barton and husband John of Sweet Home, David Vajdos and wife Jeannie of Agua Dulce; sister Betty Jo Houston of Kerrville; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church. Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce, Texas. Rites of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Karnes City Cemetery in Karnes City, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons; Michael Nichols, Eric Nichols, Caleb Vajdos, Taylor Grossman, Chase Grossman, Phillip Barton, Nicholas Barton, Jacob Barton; Honorary pallbearers, Mike Vajdos, Casper Vajdos, Pat Vajdos, Bill Nichols, Scott Grossman and John Barton.
The family would like to thank Bea, R.J., Damian, Kay, and Veronica for their dedication and compassionate care.
