Mary Elizabeth Pressley, 88, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Christmas Day in 1936 in Buda, Texas, Mary was a gift to all who knew her. She grew up in Taft, Texas, where she made lifelong memories and met the love of her life, Bobby Joe Pressley. The two were high school sweethearts and married on May 28, 1957, beginning a beautiful journey together filled with love, faith, and family.
Bobby and Mary’s family quickly grew with the addition of three daughters and one son within a six-year span. Mary was a stay-at-home mom during her children’s younger years, doing her best to corral four unruly children with her signature determination. As her children grew older, she stepped into the role of Office Manager at the newly-acquired family business, Pressley Farm and Ranch Supply, where she faithfully worked alongside her husband Bobby.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Harper Jr. and Mary Pauline Harper; her beloved husband, Bobby Joe Pressley; and her great-grandson, Ty Joseph Pressley.
She leaves behind four children to carry on her legacy: Becky (John) Downey, David Pressley(Cassie), Linda (Bob) Whitley, and Tina (Skip) Pries. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Mary was known for her unwavering dedication to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether it was a birthday party, stock show, school program, or sporting event, you could always count on her to be there - cheering proudly or occasionally heckling a referee if necessary. The county fair was one of her favorite times of the year, where she was a fierce supporter and tireless encourager.
A faithful member of The Grove Baptist Church, Mary cherished her church family and took joy in serving however she could. Every Sunday, she arrived early to make sure the coffee was brewed and ready—even if it wasn’t the best coffee in town (a fact lovingly acknowledged by all who dared to drink it, but never dared to complain!).
Mary leaves behind a legacy of fierce love. quiet strength, and spirited devotion. She will be remembered for her loyalty, her crazy stubbornness, and the way she showed up—without fail—for the people she loved.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at The Grove Baptist Church 610 S Reynolds St, Orange Grove, TX. Burial will follow at Sandia Cemetery. Everyone is invited back to the church following the burial to enjoy a meal and fellowship with the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main Street, Alice, Texas.
