Mattie (Stanley) Reeves

Mattie Evelyn Reeves, age 83, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

Mattie was born in Wink, Texas on February 26, 1936 to Grace and Theodore Stanley.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Alice since 1959, where she taught 3rd and 4th grade level Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, as well as attending the nursery. She was a member of the Jim Wells County Fair Association, she was Executive Director for Camp Fire Boys and Girls of America, and she was a former Citizen of the Year. She was a “Prayer Warrior” for over two years at Meridian Care of Alice. She and her husband, Tom, owned and operated Reeves Construction Company for over 30 years and she was the best cook in South Texas!

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tommy Reeves; her brother, Bob Stanley and her sister, Mary Armstrong.

Throughout her life, Mattie drew strength from her church and her loving and close-knit family. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 68 years, Tom Reeves; two daughters, Kathy (Wayne) Westbrook of Sandia, Texas and Leann (James) Zezula of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as many cherished friends.

Visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Alice. Interment will follow at Alice Cemetery.
