Maxine A. Stewart

Maxine A. Stewart born September 26, 1937 in Alice, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 21, 2020.

Maxine was a nurse at the Freer Texas hospital until it closed in the 1970’s. She was a member on the board of directors for Nueces Electric Coop for 24 years. She began her retirement in 2019. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved pets and listening to her books on tape. Maxine was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, M.C. (Mack) Atkinson and Alcy Beall Atkinson; sister, Jane Gregory; first husband, Alfred A. Fischer; second husband, Raymond L. Stewart; and son, Michael L. Fischer.

Maxine is survived by her loving daughter, Susan E. Fischer (Lloyd) Stewart; grandchildren, Jesse Stewart and Skyler Fischer; stepsons, Michael (Janice) Stewart, Tommie Stewart, and Tracy (Dovie) Stewart; grandchildren, Dusty and Dana Stewart, Tres and Tyler Stewart, and Jennifer and Hannah Stewart.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Alice Cemetery with Pastor Charles Ragland officiating.

Serving as pallbearers; Craig Oakes, Tommie Oakes, JW Atkinson, Jesse Stewart, Michael Stewart, and Benny Fischer. Honorary pallbearer, Jeff Atkinson.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
