Nancy Lynn Rodriguez

Nancy Lynn Rodriguez, age 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Saturday January 2, 2021 in Houston, TX after a long illness. She was born in Beeville, TX on March 14, 1957 to Dwight W. Awalt and Marjorie Reed.

Nancy married her loving husband of 45 years, Gilbert Rodriguez, on September 6, 1975. She was an active member of the Catholic Churches in the cities where she resided. She considered St. Elizabeth her home church and served in various capacities, such as parish council and CCD teacher. Nancy was so happy to have been able to reconnect with her high school friends after moving back to Alice.

She enjoyed dancing, painting, being outdoors, going to the beach, river, and the lake, and was a great cook. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and had a never-ending love for her dogs.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Marjorie R. Awalt; father and mother-in-law, Jose R. and Lydia Rodriguez; and Chico, her beloved Chocolate Lab.  

She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Rodriguez of Alice, TX; children, Marissa (Brandon) Barranco, of Round Rock, TX and Micah (Lisa) Rodriguez of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Remi Rodriguez and Enzo Rodriguez both of Austin, TX; sister, Ann Awalt of Alice, TX; beloved dogs, Lady and Cisco; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID, at the family’s request, we are asking to limit your visitation to 10 minutes, visitation will be held from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2021, with a Private Holy Rosary to be recited for the family.  A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Monsignor L. Pivonka as Celebrant. A private burial will be held at a later date.  

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
