Nieves Gonzalez Obituary

Our hearts are broken as we sadly announce that our beloved mother and grandmother Nieves P. Gonzalez was called by our Lord and welcome into heaven on November 29, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and close friends, who loved and adored her. She was born May 4, 1956 in Agua Dulce, Texas to Manuel and Josefina Padilla Sr. Nieves was loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered the most for her big caring heart and her precious, adorable big smile. Even at her hardest day she will have her beautiful big smile. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she attended on Sundays up until her illness. She loved all family get together and especially weekends when she looked forward for her grandchildren spending the night and gave her time to spoiled them. We are having a girl’s night when her granddaughters will stay. Memories that will never be forgotten. She was a true Houston Astro and Houston Texan fan and attended several of the games. Nieves loved dancing, attending concerts, caring for her plants, decorating her house for all holidays and collecting tea sets. Her favorite holiday was Christmas when all her family will get together and seeing her diamonds (grandchildren) eyes sparkle when opening their gifts. Nieves was a single mother before all, who cared and provided a happy home for her two sons Nuffy and AJ, her heroes as she referred when talking about them. They were her pride and joy and constantly telling them how proud she was of them. She was confident supporter of her two boys, to always live their dreams, work hard, help others and always stay humble. Don’t never give up. She got to see them both as firefighters helping people and working hard.

Nieves was born and raised in Agua Dulce, Texas. She will always laugh when asked there is no hospital in Agua Dulce, I know she would answer laughing, I was born with a midwife. She attended and graduated from Agua Dulce High School where she was in honor society, band, flag girl, letter girl and sports. She was a true Longhorn fan for life she would say. Once a Dulce girl, always a Dulce girl. She was hard worker, never complained the long hours she would work to raise her boys. She worked at TG&Y, opened up the Blockbuster in Alice, worked for the Alice Echo News Journal, Advance America and most recently Approved Money Center where she retired 2023.

She is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Josefina Padilla Sr., her sisters Maria and Manuelita Padilla, Rosie Velasco, Anita P. Garza, & Dominga P. Mendoza. brother in laws Oscar Mendoza Sr., Ramon F. Lopez Sr., and Rick Kilburn. Sister-in-law Wilma G. Padilla and father of her sons Arnulfo Gonzalez Sr.

She leaves behind to treasure her memories her heroes, her world, her beloved sons, Arnulfo “Nuffy” Gonzalez Jr. (Erica), and Andrew Joe “AJ” Gonzalez Sr. (Kassandra). Her seven diamonds (grandchildren) that she loved and was so proud. She had a nickname and special bond for each one of them. Mamie Louise Gonzalez her baby girl, Alexis Renae Gonzalez her Lexi poo, Andrew Joe Gonzalez Jr. her Hubba, Arnulfo Gonzalez III her little Tree, Khloe Lynn Gonzalez her Klo Klo, Antonio Jesus Gonzalez her Papi Chulo, and Paitynn Jo Gonzalez her Pay Pay. She loved all her diamonds the same and loved to spoil them. She would tell them stories when she was young and growing up, also about their dads when they were small. They all loved her stories they would say, tell us another one grandma please. She also leaves behind her sisters Elena P. Lopez, Josie P. Juan Munoz brother Manuel Padilla Jr.,and one special aunt Isabel Logan. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

While her time on earth feels too short, she lived life to the fullest. She lived each day like it was her last. She was a very independent lady, who would read her bible each night before she would go to bed and pray for everybody each and every day. She would get her grandchildren to pray with her while spending the weekend with her. We are very blessed to be touched by her presence and we understand her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts far exceeds the quantity of time she was here with us. We will love and miss her always, and she will live forever in our hearts.
