Oscar Garcia Obituary

On September 30, 2025, Oscar Garcia passed away after a long and courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. Showing his remarkable strength and courage, his battle ended at home with family by his side at the age of 66.

Born and raised on June 24, 1959 in Alice, Texas to Rene Reyes Garcia and Doris Spencer.

Soon after graduation, he started working for Ball-Montez Electric Inc. where he worked for 48 years. He loved his job so much he worked through lunch. He was great at helping customers by phone explaining step-by-step instructions on how to fix whatever they needed. There was nothing he wouldn’t try to fix first before he would have to call a professional.

His loyalty to the company was so strong a weekend or late hour phone call was never out of the question. He enjoyed his work family, Leroy and Janet Ball, Albert and Jason Trafton, and all previous employees.

He enjoyed barbecuing, landscaping, going to the ranch and gambling. His newest adventure was taking his wife to Hobby Lobby, where we joked “everything is on sale”. He would try on different holiday items or anything he could wear.  Whether it was a hat or holiday garland, he was going to make fun of what he could.

He loved watching Gunsmoke and Golden Girls with his granddaughter Dana. It was always a joyful time when his grandkids would visit.  It brought happiness to his heart to see his grandkids, Dana and Sebastian grow through all holiday gatherings. It warmed his heart to be present at his third grandchild’s birth, Anastasia.

He loved hanging out with his Gaza and Abrigo crew, breakfast buddies and ranch weekends with Rudy Villarreal.

As much as he was generous with this time of helping others in need, he was also very upfront. He was not one to sugarcoat his comments. Think before you speak, was not his strong suit, but more often than not it was the truth.

He is preceded in death, paternal grandparents Guadalupe (Cora) Garcia, maternal grandmother Sophia Spencer and father Rene Reyes Garcia

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years Lora Garcia; son Oscar (Lexi) Garcia Jr.; daughter Ysela Garcia; Sister Patricia "Patsy" Uresti; brother Arnold (Pricila) Garcia; and a Sister-in-law Gloria Leticia Garza whom he loved like a sister; Grandchildren Dana, Sebastian and Anastasia; a niece and nephews.
