Rafaela Esqueda

Rafaela Dominga Esqueda passed away peacefully in Agua Dulce, Texas on September 26, 2024, at the age of 72. Rafaela was born October 1, 1951 in Robstown, Texas to Julia Galindo Vargas and Macario Vargas.

Rafaela was a very happy person who got along with everyone.  Some of the things she enjoyed were taking rides while listening to music and singing along, making her family laugh, fishing, singing and dancing was her passion. “Oh just don’t tell her to clean or to wash dishes” (She would frown) It always made her family laugh. Her son Robert would say “a que mi Moopie”

Her children all have their special moments with her.

Johnny- loved to cook BBQ for her and to take her fishing.

Ponce- loved every moment with her, whatever mommy asked, he would do. He would take her out and take her for rides and just listen to music.

Gilbert- loved to BBQ for her.

Felita- loved to dress her up, fix her hair, do her makeup and take her out for a ride

Thelma- loved to listen to music with her, chat about the good and the bad and listen to her advice.

Javier- loved to sing with mom, take her to the spa and pamper her with manicures, pedicures, and hair-dos. As well as go to church, revivals and have cheat nights with casino dates. “Singing with mom took me back to the days when dad and mom would sing together.”

Robert- loved to make her happy by barbequing (her favorite) and taking her for rides and listening to music. He loved to call her “My Moopie”

Randy- loved to lay down beside her and she would scratch his head. He loved when she would sing to him. 

She loved getting spoiled and all her children loved doing it.

“Our madricita left this world by leaving our hearts full of love and hers as well”

Rafaela is preceded in death by her husband Santos Garcia; parents Marcario Vargas and Julia Galindo Vargas and her 2 brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Johnny Ramos, Ponciano (Melissa) Ramos, Gilbert (Beatrice) Ramos, Rafaela (Felita) Ramos, Thelma (Richard) Gonzales, Javier (Erick) Ramos, Robert (Marisela) Ramos, and Randy (Toni) Ramos; 29 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Chapel Service at 12:30 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice, TX. A christian burial will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
