It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ramiro Cantu Jr. on December 5, 2025 surrounded by loving family. He was born on October 23, 1955 to Ramiro Cantu Sr. and Maria Lamar Fernandez in Sinton, Texas.
Ramiro worked the oilfield all his life and had a tremendous love for the Dallas Cowboys and fishing. He enjoyed the outdoors with nephews and cousins and was a great man with a deep love for his family and loved ones that will be remembered by them.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ramiro Cantu Sr. and Maria Lamar Fernandez; son, Eladio Gomez; sisters, Maria Lamar Vera (Nicolas); brother-in-law, Pastor Jesus Garcia; brother-in-law, Simon Moreno, Oscar Benavides and Sixto Bueno.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sylvia Gomez of Alice, Texas; his children, Daniella Gomez (Rolando Dimas) of Calallen, Texas, Cindy Rios (Raul) of Alice, Texas; grandchildren, Eli Gomez, Clarissa Gomez (Brandon Herrera), Justin Gomez, Alynna Dimas, Elena Dimas, Ian Dimas, Isaac Cantu, Oscar Cantu, Isaih Cantu; Eleven Great Grandchildren; siblings, George Cantu (Juanita), Victor Cantu, Maria Socorro Rios (Ruben), San Juanita Garcia, Zaida Bueno, Marta Garcia (Angel Sr.), Brunilda Benavides, Odilia Garcia (Tomas), Cynthia Moreno and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St. in Alice, Texas, 78332. A Funeral Mass will be held at Esperanza Baptist Church, 451 Co Rd 122, Alice, TX 78332 at 1:00 PM with a Burial to follow at Tecolote Cemetery,
