Robert H. Garcia (Bro. Bob) came into this world on February 18, 1958 in Alice, Texas to the late Rogerio (Rocky) Garcia and Leona Kurtz.  He peacefully entered into Glory to be with his Savior, Jesus, on October 19, 2021 with his loving family surrounding him.

Robert grew up in Ben Bolt, Tx and Garrison, North Dakota.  He is survived by the love of his life, Rosario (Sanchez) Garcia.  They were married on April 25, 1981, and cherished 40 years together. He is also survived by four children, Nola (Ruben) Robinson of Alice, Samuel (Gabrielle) Garcia of Alice, Jon-Michael

(Bianca) Garcia of Alice, and Isaac (Jessica) Garcia of Alice.  His son, Benjamin Garcia, took his first breath in Heaven, and was undoubtedly waiting for Robert upon his arrival.  In addition, he leaves eight grandchildren, Sophie Garcia, Laila Robinson, Benjamin Garcia, Kaitlyn Garcia, Claire Robinson, Chloe Garcia, Liam

Robinson, and Ian Garcia to cherish his memory.  He leaves 2 loving in-laws, Juan (Nena) Sanchez, Jr., who loved and adored him as one of their own. He also leaves one devoted sister-in-law, and 2 brothers-in-law from this union, Ms. Elsa Martinez, Juan (Thelma) Sanchez III, and Jose (Janie) Sanchez, who remained close to him until his passing.

Robert is also survived by his mom, Janie Garcia of Corpus Christi, Tx., 4 brothers and 3 sisters; Michael (Terry) Garcia, John Garcia, Paul (Patti) Garcia, Marty Garcia, Debra (Dan) Garcia, Sandra Garcia, and Melissa Mitridis. Robert is preceded in death by his mother and father, Rogerio Garcia and Leona Kurtz, 2 brothers, and 1 sister; Danny Garcia, Sammy Garcia, and Helen Martin.  He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Robert was ordained as a pastor in 2006 at Cornerstone Baptist Church. He pastored at Bethany Baptist Church in Realitos, Tx for 14 years. He ministered at Alice Christian School for 25 years as a PE coach, custodian, cook, and eventually Principal. He was affectionately known as Bro. Bob by all who knew him, and impacted countless lives for the kingdom of God. If you asked Bro. Bob how he was doing, then you surely heard him say, “I’m blessed.” There was never a time when he said anything otherwise.

Bro. Bob enjoyed spending time at his family ranch where he liked to hunt, work the land, raise cattle, and meditate on God’s Word. He was a skilled carpenter for most of his life. You can see his craftsmanship in many homes throughout the area, as well as his home and the homes of his children. He loved to cook and bake. His famous carrot cake is loved by many. He also enjoyed family fishing trips on the coast, frequent trips to HEB, brisket prices less than $1.50/lb, and a feel-good sports movie he could watch over and over again.

Most of all, Bro. Bob’s heart was with his family. He always said that family is everything, and he loved his family unconditionally. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his favorite thing to do was tell them about Jesus. He was married to his beautiful wife, Rosie, for 40 years. He loved to work in the garden with her, and share a bowl of popcorn as they watched a good movie.

Bro. Bob put Jesus above everyone else. His love for Christ was evident in the way he lived his life. There is no doubt that he is with his Savior now, and is rejoicing with loved ones who have gone before. He would say, “If you want to see me again, there’s no other way but through Jesus.” John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
