Robert William Hinnant, Sr.

The family of Bob Hinnant, age 82 are saddened to share the news of his passing in the early morning hours of July 21, 2024, at his home on Los Picachos surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 21, 1942 in Houston, Texas. He was adopted by Willie and Jessie and grew up on the ranch. His father Willie cherished his son and would say “He wouldn’t take a million dollars for him.”

Fifty years ago, Bob met the love of his life through the insistence of his roommate (Russell Lacey). He convinced him to go to a club where the great band “Texas Weather” was playing and there was a pretty hippie chick he needed to meet. Bob listened and went the next night; the rest is history.

One of the best times of his life was when he worked for the Live Oak Auction Barn working cattle on ranches all over South Texas with Phil & Rob Adams. He agreed with Phil when he said “If you have a good horse, a good dog, and are chasing about 10 cows, it’s music to your ears.” Bob was a lifelong rancher who adored his wife, kids, and grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth; His children Sam Hinnant, Jane (Jim) Hinnant Metts, Bill (Shelley) Hinnant; and Grandchildren Mattie (Jesse) Coffey of Franklin, TN., Hunter (Elli) Metts of Franklin, Tn.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Pebble with Ripples 300 N Leona St, Orange Grove, TX from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, including a meal.

Services are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
