Rosie Buentello Obituary

Rosie A. Buentello, age 75, went with the Lord peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her “Little Family” on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. She was born in San Antonio, TX on September 4, 1945 to Adan Alegria Sr. and Rosa Fernandez Alegria.

Rosie met the love of her life, Sacarias Buentello, Jr. during their high school years. They were united in Holy Matrimony on October 19, 1963 and began to raise their "Little Family" with faith, prayer, and family traditions.

Rosie was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was very proud of her “Little Family” and excited to be called “Nana” by her three grandsons and “Gigi” by her two great- granddaughters. She loved talking to and texting her family daily. Never a game, a performance, a graduation, or a dance recital were missed. If her kids were participating Nana (Gigi) and Tata (Paw) were in attendance. She was proud of all their accomplishments.

Rosie also loved “capturing the moments”. She loved taking pictures and leaves behind many photo albums for her family to cherish. Her favorite pastime was online shopping and watching telenovelas. Holidays were her favorite time of the year, especially Christmas-time at Rancho Patron with her “Little Family”.

Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible Verse, “With God All Things Are Possible” - Matthew 19:26.

Rosie was the Matriarch of her family.

A devout Catholic and parishioner of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, she faithfully prayed daily. She was involved with the Rosary Society, ACTS, and any church function and/or activity.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Adan Alegria, Sr.; daughter, Denise Lynette Buentello; brothers, Adan Alegria Jr. and Gilberto Alegria; and sisters, Mary Jean Alegria and Nellie Alegria.

Rosie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Sacarias Buentello, Jr. of Alice, TX; son, Sacarias (Cynthia) Buentello III of McAllen, TX; daughter, Rozanne (Luis Roberto) Garza of Benavides, TX; grandchildren, Louie Garza of Dallas, TX, Matthew (Hilary) Garza of Corpus Christi, TX, and Zachary Michael (Jasmine) Buentello of New York City; great-grandchildren, Madison Danae Garza and Mariah Celine Garza; and sisters, Elvira (†Romeo) Garcia, Yolanda (†Raul) Valdez Jr., Alma (Tim) Birrenkott, and Anna (Juvenal) Gonzalez.

A Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM on Monday, February 22, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 801 S. Reynolds St. Alice, TX; with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. A Christian Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
