Ruben Garza

Ruben Garza, 53, of Alice, Texas, went to be with our Lord on June 15, 2025, in a sudden automobile accident. Born on January 6, 1972, in Alice, Tx. He lived most of his life in his cherished hometown, leaving behind a legacy built on hard work, deep love, and a heart for helping others.

He was the beloved son of Roel B. Garza and Maria C. Rivera (Mario), and a man known for his kindness, strength, and tireless spirit. Ruben never hesitated to go above and beyond for anyone in need—whether family, friends, neighbors, or strangers.

On November 5, 2012, Ruben married the love of his life, Guadalupe (Lupita) M. Garza. Together, they built a blended and loving family of seven children Eric I. Perez (Amanda) of Kentucky, Kevin A. Perez of Las Vegas, Tashia R. Garibay (Pedro) of Alice, Tiffany M. Ruiz-Rios (Brandon) of Alice, Rafael Garza Jr. of Houston, Maria C. Garza (Aaron) Alice, Ruben Garza Jr. (Venessa), Alice.

Ruben is also survived by his siblings: Roel R. Garza (Sandra) of Killeen, Texas; Rogelio Garza (Diana) of Brownsville, Texas; and Esmeralda Soza (Roel) of Alice, Texas. Raul R. Garza (Nicole) Alice, Tx. And numerous Nieces,Nephews,Aunts and Uncles.

His days were filled with purpose—repairing, building, riding, BBQing, he enjoyed listening to all types of music and spending cherished time with his wife, family, grandchildren, gatherings filled with laughter, he enjoyed peaceful motorcycle rides with Lupita and taking his grandchildren for rides around the block. Ruben was a man others could depend on. He was bold, very direct, honest, and giving, always ready to lend a hand or a word of wisdom—sometimes both.

A master of many trades, Ruben worked as a welder and mechanic at Alice Muffler Shop for 8 years, then as a floor hand with Precision Drilling for 5 years. He later served as Foreman for Jim Wells County Pct 1 under Commissioner Margie Gonzalez and returned to Precision Drilling, where he proudly worked for the past 3 years. He found joy in doing things right and being someone, others could count on.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:00 PM followed by Funeral Service at 12:30 PM at Holmgreen Mortuary 2061 E. Main St. in Alice, Texas . Burial will follow at Collins Cemetery, and a reception for family will be held at Holmgreen Mortuary Fellowship hall.

Ruben’s presence was larger than life, and his legacy of love, grit, and generosity will live on in every heart he touched.
