Rudolpho Corral, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021, surrounded by his family in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on October 17, 1930, in Lamesa, New Mexico to Eusebio and Tomasa Corral. He was a resident of Agua Dulce, Texas.
Rudy retired as Chief Warrant Officer from the United States Army after 40 years of service. He was a proud Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was Fire Chief of the Agua Dulce Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, an Emergency Medical Technician for the Agua Dulce Fire Department, Fire Commissioner and Fire Marshall, and a member of the City Council. Rudy was a Fourth Degree Knight and a longtime member of the ST. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce. He volunteered with RSVP, was a member of the Agua Dulce Citizens for Progress, An Alderman, and a member of the Senior Citizens Center Rudy and his wife, Kay, were also recipients of the Jefferson Award for Public Service.
Rudy was a jokester and a story teller. Whatever the situation, he could find something good or funny from the past to tell you about it. He was very respected by all who knew him and gave the same respect in return. He was dedicated to his wife, family, church, and community. He spent his retired years spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eusebio and Tomasa Corral; brothers, Lino Corral and Manny Corral; sister, Romalia Apodaca; and grandson, Ruben Rossette.
Rudolpho is survived by his wife, Kay Corral of Agua Dulce, Texas; sons, Scott Wilbourn of Agua Dulce, Texas and Rudy (Dora) Corral, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Shaunna (Joe) Garcia of New Braunfels, Texas, Priscilla (Rudy) Aguirre of San Antonio, Texas, Sylvia (Mario) Perez of San Antonio, Texas, and Alicia Clayton of Corpus Christi, Texas; and brother, Armando (Dana) Corral of Owasso, Oklahoma. He had 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Holmgreen Mortuary 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at St Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce, Celebrant Father Pasala Balaswam. A Christian Burial with Military Honors will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
