Ruth Meyer

Ruth LaVonne Meyer, 88 years of age, went to meet her Savior on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in her sleep after a brief illness.

She was a 2nd generation immigrant from Denmark/Sweden who was born and raised in Tracy, Minnesota. She and her late husband raised their three children in Channelview, TX and she moved to Alice, TX in 1996. She spent 30 years as an in-home child care provider. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crafting, and library work.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Jenny (David) Winston of Alice, TX and Julie (Drew) Convery of Flower Mound, TX; son, Douglas (Wendy) Meyer of Plano, TX; and she leaves behind nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who loving called her “Gigi”.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband, and United States Air Force Veteran, in the Houston National Veteran Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 21, 2021 following a graveside service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
