Sandra Lee Heimann-Dorsett entered the world by surprise on Thanksgiving Day in 1967, and left in the same way on Friday, February 10, 2023 after a hard-fought battle against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
A “tuff old bird”, she defeated cancer two times prior to her diagnosis. She faced it courageously until the very end and her resiliency will always be admired by all who knew her story.
Sandra lived a life built upon her devotion to others. By the age of 19, she was an LVN and during her 20 plus years in her career, she healed all - old and young. Whether in a doctor’s office or a hospital, on the road or even in prisons, she poured her blood, sweat and tears into caring for all, equally. Her patients would remember her compassion for years to come.
She loved her family to the moon and back, and she reminded them of that, every single day. She fell in love with her husband, James Dorsett, in 1986 and by 1987, they were married. They faced trials and tribulations throughout their 35 years of marriage but they grew through them all. Their unbreakable bond produced three beautiful children and 3 grandchildren. She instilled in them lessons of love, generosity and strength. Through them, she will live on for years to come. They couldn’t have ever asked for a better mother or grandmother.
Embracing her at heaven’s gates are her mother, Jo Ann, father, Allen, and her Meemaw Milton.
Awaiting her embrace are her husband, James; eldest, Leagh Ann; middle, Chris and youngest, Denisa, whom she called her “mini me”; Her grandchildren include Caleb,15, Max, 9 and Lulu, 1. She also leaves behind an older sister, Connie Towery.
