Obituary

 

Alice High School retired counselor Sue Fox (Suzanne Dress Fox) lost her five-year battle with cancer on Monday May 2, 2022. She was in her home with Hospice, under the supervision and loving care of her Family Nurse/Baby Sister Diane McComish.

Sue was born in Dubuque, Iowa on September 14, 1946. A graduate of Wahlert High School, she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Clarke College, both in Dubuque, Iowa. Her teaching career began at Holy Ghost Catholic School also in Dubuque, and later in Rockford, Illinois. While married to John Wiley Fox, Sue had her son Sean Wiley Fox.

Having completed her Master of Science Degree for certification as an Academic Counselor at Corpus Christi State University, Sue did additional graduate work for certification as a Vocational Counselor. She began her counseling at Robstown High School as the Vocational Counselor and eventually as the Lead Counselor for the entire District. She worked with Robstown I.S.D for 19 years. Sue completed her counseling career at Alice High School as a diagnostician and counselor for 12 years. She enjoyed her friendships with the counselors, administration, faculty, staff, and especially the students.

Sue was Baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa where she received her First Communion and confirmed her faith. She was an active member of several Lutheran Churches and is associated with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice, where her family members are active.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roseann (Mullen) McComish and Bob McComish, her father Milton Dress, her sister-in-laws Margaret (Cabrera) Dress, Karen (Karr) Dress and niece Michelle Dress.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Sean Wiley Fox and Kandace Khea (Kaiser) Fox; grandchildren Kloe Khea Fox and Samuel Wiley Fox; siblings Jerry Dress, Diane McComish, Greg McComish and sister-in-law Mary (Martin) McComish; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving Sue are her Kaiser/McNiel family, Fox/Jackson family, Robstown/Cotton Picker Family, and Alice High School/Coyote family.

There will be a private memorial service which will be conducted by Pastor John Wiley Fox. Sue’s family is grateful to all who have helped Sue during her last months and days, especially Mi Casa Hospice Services, and Holmgreen Mortuary. Any gifts of remembrance should be given as your heart directs.
