Walter Monte Boyd
Monte Boyd passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on November 29, 2020 at the age of 88.
He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 15, 1932. Monte graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1949. He went on to attend Del Mar College on a scholarship playing basketball. Upon completion he attended the University of Texas in Austin. Monte returned to his hometown of Corpus Christi and worked several jobs, but settled as a real estate title examiner at Corpus Christi Title Company before going out on his own.
Monte had a great love for all sports and shared that interest with anyone who would listen. He especially enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He stayed mentally fit by watching all his favorite game shows and beating all the contestants from his competing position on the couch.
Preceding Monte in death were his parents, Walter and Alice Boyd, his wife of 38 years, Huberta Boyd, and his brother, Ronnie Boyd.
Monte is survived by his sister, Peggy M. Anderson; nephews, Mark Anderson (Debbie), Jeff Anderson; and nieces, Cristi Colville (Jim) and Gail Riley (Shane); sister-in-law, Shirley and her daughter, Kim; as well as, many great nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his stepson, John Turnham, and step daughters, Barbara Rodriguez (Ruben) and Jane Manning (Rusty); as well as, numerous step grandchildren.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary; 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
