Walter James Stasny, age 85, succumbed to heart failure and passed on to our Lord in Corpus Christi Spohn Hospital on November 12, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Walter was born in Sweet Home, Lavaca County, Texas, on November 24, 1936 to Walter Stasny and Adell Kristek.
Walter was the oldest child of Walter A. and Della. Walter served in the U.S. Army as a communications expert in the late 1950s and was stationed in Okinawa for several years. After separation from the Army in 1961, Walter married Elsie, the love of his life, in 1963. They purchased a home in Alice, Texas, where they lived and remained happily married until he passed. Walter and Elsie loved to travel and visited Canada (their favorite), Hawaii, Alaska and other States in the US.
Walter founded Alice Communication Services in 1973. It was not uncommon to visit and find a couple of dogs and/or cats that had taken up residence because of Walter’s generosity in feeding them daily. He ran his business happily and successfully until he retired on December 31, 2021. Tony Beltran, his dedicated employee of 32 years, continues to service the communication needs of their clients in Alice and surrounding areas.
He was a quietly determined man, generous of spirit, had a great sense of humor and never said an unkind word. He will be terribly missed.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Robert.
He is survived by Elsie (Conley) Stasny, his beloved wife of 59 years, his brother Larry, three sisters, Anna, Janice and Linda, and many nieces and nephews
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas 78332. A Chapel Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Holmgreen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Alice Cemetery.
