Wayne was born in Alexander City, Alabama to John T. Watts and Virginia Brannon Watts. He was raised on a farm surrounded by beautiful pine trees, abundant greenery, and winding country roads which he adored. He learned to interact with his beautiful environment by hunting and fishing with his grandfather and tending the garden with his parents and brothers.
From an early age, Wayne exhibited characteristics of a salesman, during wild blueberry season, he would pick the berries and sell them to the neighborhood ladies who would bake blueberry pies. As a teenager, he would raise piglets into adults and sell to his neighbors for their annual pig slaughter. He also sold magazines door to door and he would buy-out the other sellers so he could accumulate more points and win the big prize- once was a trip to Chicago.
He was preparing himself for a very successful career in the car business. Starting as a car salesman, he worked himself to become used car manager for several car dealerships owned by his beloved bosses, Monte and Sheril White. Under the tutorship of Mr. White, he became a very proficient auction car buyer. He loved the energy and thrill of competing in buying cars for his boss.
To relieve the stress of his hectic career, Wayne enjoyed riding his motorcycle along the country roads of East Texas which resembled the beautiful surroundings he grew up around. He learned to scuba dive and had the privilege of scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reefs of Australia. He also learned to pilot one-engine planes. After all his thrills and relieved of stress, he was ready for more challenges.
Besides being a great husband and father to Grace and Duane, together as a family, they loved to travel in the USA visiting many of the national parks, cruising the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera several times.
Wayne lived a fulfilled life and perhaps this prepared him for his last 15 years of sedate life and ready to enter the Kingdom of God.
