He was born William Alvin Westbrook, March 31, 1935 to A.C. and Lottie Pearl Westbrook of Oakwood, Texas.
The family moved to Pearsall in 1948 where he met the love of his life, Charlotte Fisher. They married April 2, 1954. He worked in the oilfield his entire life for various companies until they finally settled in Alice and started their own business in 1973. C. and A. Specialties was an oilfield-supply company where they lived and worked for more than thirty years. Their customers were greeted with a smile, the warmth of a friend, and a generous amount of wit. One popular saying posted on his office wall was “May my words be sweet and tender, as tomorrow, I may have to eat them”. He often commented that one of the things he missed most after retiring was calling on his customers.
He was a devoted dad who coached Little League, led Cub Scouts, and took his family camping and fishing often. His devotion to his Lord was apparent in the countless hours he spent working at First Baptist Church of Alice where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, bus driver, youth sponsor, and active committee member.
“Honey” and “Meme” spent their retirement years traveling together and with close friends to 49 of the 50 states- only missing Alaska! Their other hobbies included working at the farm, the Houston Astros, and playing with their grandchildren.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents.
