Wilma C. Slayton

Wilma C. Slayton, age 86 passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, May 20, 2023 in Alice, Texas. She was born on February 14, 1937 to Pedro Cantu and Aurora Saenz in Realitos, Texas.

Wilma had a true servant's heart that touched the lives of many others. As an office manager for many years, she was able to demonstrate true greatness by serving others. Wilma had a HEART of gold and loved her family and friends fiercely.  

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family has so many wonderful memories which they will cherish forever. She will always have a special place in their hearts. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Louis and Raul Spencer; sisters, Sarah Sears, Sofia Spencer, Emma Cardenas and Bertha Labbe.

Wilma is survived by her husband of 62 years, John C. Slayton; children, John David Slayton of New Braunfels, Texas and Gina Slayton (James) Odendahl of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren John Ryan (Bianca) Slayton, Brandon (Bia) Slayton, Gracen (Walker) Ritchie and Spencer Odendahl. Great grandchildren, Aubree G. Slayton, Joaquin R. Slayton, Calvin J. Slayton, Millie Grace Ritchie and Emilia R. Slayton; sister Doris S. (Wally) Garcia of Alice, Texas.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Holmgreen Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Alice Cemetery.
